Have you thought about limestone flooring?

Blog

When you are remodelling your home, there are many aspects of the design to consider. You will think about the configuration of each room and the style you want to create. You will consider the colour of the walls and the type of furnishings that you want to include. One aspect of a redesign that sometimes gets forgotten is the floor. The floor could be covered by a carpet or a rug, but it's possible to do much more with the floor in any room. If planned well, the choice of flooring material can create an ambience that permeates the entire room. Some rooms may benefit from a timber floor. Other rooms can look good with a polished concrete surface, another popular option is limestone flooring. Limestone can be used in a kitchen or bathroom and can even be a good choice in your living room. If you are wondering whether limestone is right for your home, here are three reasons that you should select a limestone floor.

A wide choice of options

Perhaps, you have visited a showroom and seen a limestone floor, but the colour or style didn't seem right for your property? Limestone is a natural product, and there can be significant variation between stones. Limestone tiles are available in every colour, from cream to grey or brown. Limestone tiles will also vary in their veining and their finishing. You might opt for a honed tile or something glossy. Don't reject limestone because you were unhappy with one option that you saw in a showroom. Tell your supplier what you would like, and ask to see what options they have in stock.

Strength and resilience

All floors will be walked upon, but some surfaces are more hard-wearing than others. While limestone can seem soft to the touch, it is durable and will not wear even when used regularly. If you install a limestone floor, you can be confident that you won't need to think about replacing it for many years.

Easy to maintain

No one likes to spend all of their time caring for their home. If you want a low maintenance flooring solution, limestone could be the perfect option. Limestone is naturally resistant to mould and bacteria, making it a good choice for bathrooms and kitchens. A daily brush, interspersed with an occasional wet mop is all that is needed to keep a limestone floor looking good. To prevent damage in the longer term, you must remember to reseal your limestone floor from time to time. A standard stone sealing product can be sprayed onto the limestone before the stone is buffed until it is dry.

Choosing the Right Type of Flooring

Welcome to my blog, my name is Kate. My parents lived in a very old home which still had its original flooring. I loved the pattern of the Victorian bathroom floor tiles, the glow of the timber wood, and the smooth ceramic kitchen floor. I would spend many hours sitting on the floors, feeling the surface as I played with my toys. When I bought my own home, the first thing I installed was new flooring to re-create the wonder of my childhood. I have decided to start this blog to pass on my passion for flooring with the rest of the world.
